This presentation reviews the current status of PM machines, describes recent applications and discusses future technology trends. * Introduction to Field-Weakening Performance and Analysis : ideal field-weakening characteristics; choice of normalization; performance of surface PM, synchronous reluctance and interior PM machines; concept of the interior PM machine parameter plane; and optimal design of interior PM machines. ※ 10월 11일(목) - 2nd day 10:00 a.m. ~ 17:00 p.m. * Classification of interior PM machine rotor types and discussion of relative performance. * Comparison of PM Machine Types : examination of the relative performance of axially- and radially-laminated interior PM and synchronous reluctance machines with the same stator based on experimental tests. * Surface PM Machine Parameter Plane : application of surface PM parameter plane to design machines to meet the challenging FreedomCAR traction application. * Interior PM Machine Parameter Plane: application of interior PM parameter plane for integrated-starter alternator application to minimize iron losses. Demonstrates the trade-off between high speed iron loss and low-speed inverter current rating. * Finite-Element Analysis Introduction : discussion of saturation and cross-saturation, comparison with experimental results. * Machine Optimization : describes Monte Carlo optimization approach applied to an offset-coupled interior PM integrated starter/alternator. * High Speed Machine Design: uses example of 28 hp, 47 krpm induction machine which was built for a centrifugal compressor. Discusses rotor mechanical design, and selection of heat-treatment of rotor and stator laminations to trade-off mechanical and electromagnetic properties. * Iron Loss in Interior PM machines : analysis of iron loss in a high-flux interior PM machine using 2D finite-element analysis. Comparison with test results. ※ 10월 12일(금) - 3rd day 10:00 a.m. ~ 17:00 p.m. * Iron Loss in Interior PM machines : iron loss is an important consideration at high speeds in interior PM machines. The section covers iron loss minimization by appropriate rotor and stator magnetic design. * Testing of Interior PM machines : this section describes the measurement of parameters such as stator resistance, inductance, iron loss, cogging torque and field-weakening performance using a variety of tests including : static tests, open and short-circuit tests, inverterless tests and inverter tests. This area has received little attention in the literature. * Faulted Operation of Interior PM Machines : analysis and modelling of open-circuit faults, short-circuit faults and uncontrolled generation. Comparison of model predictions with test results. * Operation of Interior PM Generators using Switched-Mode Rectifiers (SMR) : the use of a SMR provides a low-cost means for implementing PM generators requiring a wide CPSR range such as in automotive alternators.
